How to Manage Your Big Feelings So You Don’t Take Them on as Your Own
Being an empath is a beautiful, God-given ability that allows you to feel deeply and connect to the emotions of others. With practice, you can use this gift to heal and bring light and love to the world. However, to stay balanced and grounded, it’s essential to learn how to manage your big feelings—so you don't absorb them as your own. Here’s a simple process to help you stay aligned with your own energy.
Step 1: Give Your Feelings/Emotions a Name and a Color
When emotions arise—whether they feel like joy, sadness, anxiety, or heaviness—pause and acknowledge them. Ask yourself, What does this emotion feel like and Where do I feel it in my body?
Then, give the emotion a name. For example: This feels like grief or This feels like tension.
Now, imagine what color this emotion would be. Does it feel heavy and dark? Light and airy? It could be any color—there’s no right or wrong. Simply observe what arises.
Step 2: Visualize Shifting the Feeling Outside of Your Body
With the emotion named and colored, close your eyes and take a few slow, deep breaths. Now, visualize gently moving the color and emotion out of your body.
You might imagine yourself holding the emotion in your hands, or see it floating in front of you like a glowing cloud. Allow it to move away from your chest, your mind, or wherever it had settled in your body. As you shift the feeling outside of yourself, remind yourself:
“This is not mine to carry."
Step 3: Send Love and Light to the Feeling
Now that the emotion is outside of your body, imagine wrapping it in beautiful light. Picture golden, white, or pink light surrounding the color of your emotion—whatever feels right to you.
With each breath, send love to the feeling. Visualize it being bathed in healing light and gradually softening. See the color begin to brighten and transform as it turns into pure love and light.
Step 4: Transmute the Energy with Thought and Prayer
Your thoughts and prayers are powerful tools for healing. Even if you don’t know where the emotions originally came from, you can still send love and light to their source.
Silently affirm:
"I release these feelings with love and trust. I send peace and light to the origin of this energy. May it be healed and transformed into love."
Allow yourself to feel gratitude as the energy shifts into light. With this simple intention, you’ve used your gift of empathy to bring healing to yourself and, perhaps, to someone or something unseen.
Trust Your Gift
Remember, dear soul, that your empathy is not a burden—it’s a divine gift meant to bring light and love into the world. You are powerful, and with practice, you’ll find that managing your emotions gets easier. Your ability to transform energy is part of your purpose.
The more you embrace your gift, the more light you’ll shine into the world—and the more aligned you’ll feel within yourself. 💖
